Mai-Wel Enterprises opened the door to employment for Dylan

Dylan is a Supported Employee at Mai-Wel Enterprises who is a fantastic and valued part of our team. Although he enjoys working in our industry services division, Dylan was interested to see what the world of open employment would be able to offer him.

Wanting to support Dylan to reach his employment goals, we directed him to begin our NDIS employment supports program. Through this, Dylan began learning what options are available, taking part in further training and building his employability skills, confidence and ability in the workplace. When he felt ready, he transitioned to our Disability Employment Supports (DES), who assisted him to start the hunt for a job in open employment.

That’s when Dylan was connected with Industrial Gaskets & Sealants at Heatherbrae, who offered him a work trial. Industrial Gaskets & Sealants thought Dylan did such a good job, they offered him paid employment for two days a week!

As part of Dylan’s duties, he cleans gaskets, counts and packs orders, assist staff with the cutting machines, and even makes use of his forklift licence loading and unloading trucks and maintaining the warehouse! His experience at Mai-Wel Enterprises has made it very easy for Dylan to fit into the team at Industrial Gaskets, being very familiar with teamwork already in his role. As well as this, Dylan is always prepared for work with his PPE, having been taught a high standard of safety awareness at Mai-Wel Enterprises.

Dylan continues to work at Mai-Wel Enterprises two days a week on top of his two days at Industrial Gaskets, but he’s proven to himself that the sky’s the limit in terms of employment opportunities!

We want to make sure that if your goals change or if you are wanting to explore open employment, there is always options and choices at Mai-Wel.
